You see, a few days ago, I learned that Rangers 18 year old nephew would be moving in with “the guys” for the summer.
Maybe I’m just weird, but the idea of spending the night there now makes me uncomfortable.
So I tried to articulate my concerns to Ranger — who, in typical MAN fashion, said “It’s no big deal babe, the boy’s gotta learn somehow.”
HUH?? Excuse me?? Learn what??
It’s not like I’m planning on being this kids personal sex education tutor!! Ack!!
So I tried another tact — I asked how Rangers brother would handle dating while his son was living there.
Same response….. sigh….so I let the topic go for now.
REWIND TO LAST NIGHT……
“Hey babe, I just wanted to let you know that I spoke to my brother about your concerns.”
“Oh? What did he say?”
“He said that it wasn’t like he was planning on traipsing a lot of women around the house over the summer, but that he would date as usual and if someone spent the night, they spent the night, no big deal.”
……pause.……..”WAIT….STOP…. Ranger, WHAT did you say to your brother!!!!!!!!”
“Oh, I told him that you were concerned about him bringing women home during the summer and how that would look to his son.”
“YOU SAID THAT?????????”

“Ranger, did you AT LEAST tell him that the reason I brought it up was because I was concerned about *ME* sleeping over while his son lives there?”
“Ummmm…..no.”
OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!!
His brother now thinks that I’m sitting around speculating on his love life AND his parenting skills.
Just have ranger go back and tell him what you really said. No mortification needed.
He is 18, you guys might have to deal with HIM bringing girls home.

Keep the peace woman. Or should I say keep your peace. That is the thing with situations you can not control – it is better to not say anything at all. I would recommend you play it by ear and if you feel uncomfortable go home or not stay. Roomies – WTH?!?!
